Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a natural, non-surgical, drug-free treatment that involves manipulation of restricted joints in the spine and extremities. Joints can become restricted due to improper posture, trauma/injury, or poor muscle activity.

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization DNS

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) is a school of thought, assessment, and rehab method based on the developmental stages of babies! Though used to treat adults, DNS guides patients through a series of poses that resemble our most functional selves- how we move as infants. The purpose of this technique is to promote proper co-activation & coordination of the neuromuscular system, and has been successful in treating many complicated neuromusculoskeletal issues including cerebral palsy and stroke patients.

McKenzie Method MDT

The McKenzie Method (MDT) is a world renowned assessment process intended for all musculoskeletal problems, including pain in the back, neck, extremities (shoulder, elbow, ankle, etc). We utilize the MDT system for nearly every patient that walks in our doors. By using a variety of movements and finding a “directional preference,” we can often make quick improvements on some very frustrating conditions.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Soft tissue therapy or myofascial (muscle & fascia) release is used anytime a patient has a painful condition that involves muscles or nerves that do not move or slide properly. Adhesions between the muscles, connective tissue, or nerves can eventually lead to pain. By applying the proper treatment, these adhesions can be “released” which leads to properly moving and functional muscles and nerves. We may use our hands in massage-style Pin & Stretch technique (ART) or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM) metal tools for the best outcomes.

Soft tissue techniques we offer:

  • Myofascial Release
  • Cupping
  • IASTM (scraping)
  • Joint compression flossing
  • Kinesio® Taping

Managing Side Effects

Soreness and slight bruising are common after soft tissue therapy. However, these side effects will become less prevalent as your body becomes more comfortable with soft tissue therapy. We recommend ample hydration before and after your session for best results.

Please keep in mind that soreness and slight bruising indicate therapeutic success!

Doctor doing flexion

Flexion Distraction/Traction Tables

These tables are often used for patients with spinal canal stenosis and/or radiating symptoms to provide relief by helping decompress the joints of the spine.

Chiropractor using y-strap

Y-Strap

The Y-Strap technique is a chiropractic technique that uses a decompression tool called the Y-strap to stretch the neck and back to relieve pressure from the vertebrae within the spine. The Y-strap is a secure strap around the skull attached to a bar that the chiropractor pulls in order to achieve spinal decompression. The Y-Strap works by stretching the spine, pulling the head in the Y-Axis of the body, generating a decompression in the vertebral discs.
